my internship with starbuhh
memorable moments
One of my internship goals was to complete the Starbucks Coffee Academy. This achievement demonstrated my knowledge of Starbucks culture, and how to identify types of coffee with coffee tastings. After finishing the coffee academy, it boosted my confidence and taught me the skills necessary to lead a coffee tasting class of my own! The class I co-hosted was` a welcoming event for our new store manager. At the event, we were able to taste our newly partner voted coffee called the "green apron" blend. After the tastings, I taught partners how to identify coffee and how they differentiate from other blends they tasted. In the end, partners were able to clearly identify the coffee's characteristics and have the knowledge to host a coffee tasting of their own!
learning experiences
Throughout the experience, I was able to grow several skills.
First of all, I learned both the importance and the how to of inventory-taking and placing orders. I hadn't realized how much of an impact it makes on the entire store and customer experience.
Secondly, I was able to grow my confidence. By learning how to be a manager, I was forced outside my comfort zone and learned how to take charge! But only when needed. Paulina demonstrated how to be supportive to both staff and customers. It was a valuable skill.

Final Thoughts
Originally, I didn't want to do the internship. Which is why I procrastinated on it for so long. I didn't understand the point of it and thought it was a waste of time. When forced to do it, however, I learned a lot of things that I wouldn't have the opportunity to learn anywhere else. Real world skills. I'm so fortunate that I had a supportive mentor and that I was able to learn these skills in an environment that was comfortable for me.
